Your Assignment (TEST) Area, Surface Area and Volume
2
Materials Needed: One sheet of Bristol Board – divided into four parts. Pencil & pencil crayons Rulers (protractor set)
3
Step One - Perimeter Label a section of your Bristol Board “Perimeter” Construct the following shapes in that section of your Bristol Board. Neatly record the formulas for finding the perimeter or circumference of each shape below that shape. Find the perimeter of those shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Be sure to label your shapes. Square Rectangle Circle 10cm 2cm P = 2(l + w) P = 2(10cm + 2cm) P = 2(12cm) P = 24cm
4
Step Two - Area Label a section of your Bristol Board “Area” Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. Neatly record the formulas for finding the area of each shape below that shape. Find the area of the shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below each shape. Square Circle Trapezoid Parallelogram Triangle Right Triangle Rectangle 10cm 2cm A = l x w A = 10cm x 2cm A = 20cm 2
5
Step Three – Surface Area Label a section of your Bristol Board “Surface Area” Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. Neatly record the formulas for finding the surface area of each shape below that shape. Find the surface area of each of the shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Cube Rectangler Prism Cylinder Trianglar Prism SA = 2(lw + lh + wh)
6
Step Four – Volume Label a section of your Bristol Board “Volume” Construct the following shapes on that section of your Bristol Board. Neatly record the formulas for finding the volume of each shape below that shape. Find the volume of these shapes and then record this information, step-by-step, below them. Cube Rectangler Prism Cylinder Trianglar Prism V = B x h
7
Marks, Hints and Cautions: Step One – Perimeter – 9 (three marks per shape) Step Two – Area – 14 (two marks per shape) Step Three – Surface Area – 12 (three marks per shape) Step Four – Volume - 12 (three marks per shape) Neatness - All work must be neatly completed – 8 (two marks per section) Use your compass set to draw your shapes. Each member in your group needs to complete a portion of the work. TOTAL VALUE /55 Your finish product should look something like………
