Apply Texas Includes… a portal for applying for admission a portal counselors use to assess students’ progress a source of data about: – Texas colleges – how your school or district compares to others in the region in numbers of applicants 3

Application Portal –www.applytexas.org Applicants create a Profile of basic demographic information, are assigned a userID & password,* and then: 1.…select application type, semester/year, and institution 2.…complete the application form 3.…sign confirmation page 4.…click on “submit” See document 1. 4

Counselor Access All data is password-protected. How to get a password: 1.District gives ESC Regional Contact (RC) a list of eligible counselors 2.RC enters names, email addresses into System 3.System sends counselors a temporary password 4.Counselor logs in, signs a FERPA Certification, sets up permanent password 5.Access will need to be confirmed/updated annually See document 2. 6

Using the ApplyTexas Apps Page 1.How many of your students have started at least one application to a college? 2.Of those you can see in the handout, how many have completed applications to 2-year institutions? 3.Who has completed the most applications? 4.How many have not completed any applications? 5.Has Logan Caldwell applied to Midwestern State University? Using Logan’s Application Details Page… Click on “app listing” (final column) for Logan. 1.For which colleges has he only started an app? 2.What are the deadlines for submitting the incomplete applications? 3.Did he apply to any community colleges? 4.For which schools has he submitted an essay? 5.Do any of the other schools require an essay? Using the FAFSA Apps Data To access the FAFSA data, go to the blue bar at the top of your admissions application page and click on “FAFSA Apps” 1.How many students have started the FAFSA? 2.Have all of them completed it? 3.How many were selected for verification? What does that mean? 4.Which students could compete for a TEXAS Grant? See document 7. 10

FAFSA Changes Coming: FY2017-8 FAFSA will be made available in October, 2016 and will be based on prior- prior year income. 11

WBX 1.Select term and year and click on “submit” 2.Scroll down and click on “view counts by school districts”, and at next screen, 3.Select district, click on submit, and view district #’s 4.Click on district name to get HS data Go to documents 9, 10, 11, and 12. 13
