The Prefilter Function Selecting assets for reports and processes
2
Sub-Sets Of Assets OpenTAMS allows for the selection of sub-sets of assets in several ways. Once selected, assets can be included in reports and / or included in processes. Assets can be selected according to their characteristics (“aspatial”) and / or according to their locations (“spatial”). The two sets can be combined. This show illustrates how to use the Prefilter to select assets., The Prefilter can be selected in a number of places by clicking its special icon. Assets can also be selected using the GPSTools form and spatial operators, shown herein.
3
Use the Prefilter to select the assets whose data are required to be exported. Use the Prefilter to select the assets that are to have various bulk processes applied to their data. Use the Prefilter to select the assets that are to be included in reports.
4
Fields with blue borders can be selected using a “Drop Down” selector. Simply move to the required value and press the Go icon, or cancel to return to the main form The PreFilter Form Fields relating to different topics can be displayed for selection by clicking the appropriate button. Date fields use the format displayed here. This can vary depending on how the workstation has been configured by users using Windows. Useful filters can be saved and recalled for future use.
5
By filling in examples of field values, asset selection can be made tighter. However, if the selection is too tight, all assets may be excluded. The PreFilter Form This means “Select the System “NIRVA””. This means “Select the Sub-System “ENERGY” of the System “NIRVA””. This means “Select the Facility “P-SRM” of the Sub-System “ENERGY” of the System “NIRVA””. Each field can contain a “logical expression”. For example in Sys “not NIRVA” would exclude NIRVA assets. Fields are “ANDed”. The example means that only assets meeting the criteria: Sys = NIRVA”.AND. SubSys = “ENERGY”.AND. Facility = “P-SRM” would be selected. In this case, no assets meet all these criteria.
6
The PreFilter Form Useful Pre-Filters (for example, month-end reporting selections) can be saved, with each user having as many as required. Useful Pre-Filters created by colleagues can be borrowed and customised as appropriate. Pre-Filters may be applicable only to a particular module (eg something to do with roads), or to all modules.(eg something to do with monthly budgets).
7
Use the GPSTools form to select assets by their spatial coordinates Use the Square or Circle Selectors to select assets surrounding particular asset(s) Click to post the selected assets to a “target list” Confirm or cancel the posting of assets View assets selected by their spatial coordinates (MapTabVu - next slide)
8
This form provides functions to handle assets that have been selected using spatial operators. Refer to the help for the form to see how they are used.
9
The PreFilter Form This means assets have been selected by their spatial coordinates (see the GPSTools form) OR by an external GIS working on OpenTAMS data. These buttons toggle between: Not using any of the GIS-selected assets; Only using the GIS-selected assets; Adding the GIS-selected assets to those selected by their aspatial attributes.
10
The PreFilter button is replicated in various forms for convenience. The Report Selection Menu This shows the number of assets selected. This explains how the assets were selected. After the Prefilter process has run, the results are displayed in various forms – for example the Report Selection Menu shown here. Other forms that perform operations on sets display the results too.
