Uses of gold Gold is mainly used for making jewellery as it is a very unreactive metal. Thus, they remain shiny and attractive. Gold does not oxidise, rust, corrode and tarnish, which is why gold is so expensive.

Units for gold/ K ALLOY Any gold lesser than 24k is an
K stands for karat. Used to measure the purity of gold. 24k gold means pure or solid gold.(100% gold) 18k gold means 75% pure gold(18/24 gold). The remaining 25%(6/24) is made up of other metals such as silver. Any gold lesser than 24k is an ALLOY
