Overview Removal of QCF Introduction of Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) Implementation of Total Qualification Time (TQT)

Removal of QCF Qualification titles All changed by December 2017 Gradual implementation as AO reviews and updates qualifications Terminology Removal of references to QCF from centre and qualification documentation Communication AO Centres and other stakeholders Centres staff and learners Stop using the term QCF to describe a unit-based, credit-bearing qualification!
4
Introduction of RQF RQF is a framework for all qualifications specified by level and size. It does not have ‘rules’ like the QCF The AO will still assign a level to each qualification or component of a qualification The AO will assign the Total Qualification Time and its Guided Learning component Centres will continue to use this information in the planning of their provision
5
RQF contd An AO can still assign credit to a component or qualification but Credit Accumulation and Transfer will be dealt with through the AO’s Recognition of Prior Learning process Future qualifications within the RQF may look very different as the design principles for the QCF no longer apply
6
Implementation of TQT Qualification size is specified by: Total Qualification Time – the total time a learner is likely to spend to achieve the qualification, and Guided Learning – the amount of TQT that is under direct supervision. An AO must use the criteria laid down by Ofqual in determining and reviewing TQT and GL. An AO will have to determine whether a qualification it offers is relevant for the purposes of the Education and Skills Act 2008
7
Other regulatory changes The Regulatory IT System will be changing in line with these new requirements The Register is being redeveloped
