W.D. Wetherell He was born in 1948, in a small town in NY. By the time he was ten years old he was interested in writing. He Wrote his first short story on the ping pong table in his parents basement at the age of 19. To this day Wethrell loves to fish and often writes about fishing.

Vocab Pensive adj. thinking deeply Bob was pensive when the game was over. Dubious adj. feeling doubt I was dubious when the runner was called safe. Surreptitiously adv. Secretly or slyly I surreptitiously spied on my mom as she slept. Inhibition n. a restraint on ones natural impulses. An inhibition prevented Bob from cheating on the test. Lithe adj. limber bend easily. Your mom was limber last night at the GYM.

Theme The Theme of the story is a boy who likes a girl but this girl comes between the boys favorite things to do witch is fishing.

Plot Characters: The Boy, Sheila Mant, the bass, Eric Caswell. Setting: Summer, a river Theme: Boy likes a girl Basic situation: The boy wants to date Sheila Mant. Internal conflict: Asking Sheila out, if he should reel in the fish or not.

Plot External conflict: The fish is bending the rod trying to keep the fish and get to the concert Complications: fish is struggling Sheila doesn’t like fish Climax: when the rod catches the fish Resolution: He cut the fishing line the fish gets away. Protagonist: The Boy Antagonist: Sheila, the Bass Static character: Sheila Dynamic Character: The Boy
