Solubility The maximum amount of a solute that dissolves in a given amount of solvent at a constant temperature.

Saturated Solution Contains as much solute as the solvent can hold at a given temperature

Unsaturated Solutions A solution that has less than the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved.

Supersaturated Solutions Solution that can hold more solute than it normally can at a given temperature.

Factors affecting Solubility Polar and Non-polar Solvents - like dissolves like Temperature - solubility increases as temp. increases. Pressure - increase pressure, increases solubility
