6 Determining Grade of Student The student should move from grade to grade each year along with same age peers. A student may repeat a grade and in that case will be considered a retention and must repeat that specific grade level assessment(s). If a student moves into a district with no previous grade level placement, then he/she should be placed into a grade with students of the same age. The student should be no more than tw0 years older than peers in the same grade. A student should be assessed at the same grade as his/her grade level on the attendance roster. Once a student has completed all assessment requirements through grade 12, he/she can be placed into Grade 14 on attendance rosters.

10 What’s Next? Print the Administration Guide located on this same website (www.education.ky.gov –Assessment and Accountability–District Support- Alternate K-PREP- Alternate K-PREP Resources) There is one additional online training module after the completion of the Overview and AT training that must be successfully completed by teachers of students in grades 8, 10 or 11. The Transition Attainment Record (Required for grades 8, 10, & 11) will be posted September 16, 2013. The Assessment Overview and Attainment Task Training and the corresponding qualifying quiz must be passed before beginning the AT assessment. If required, the Transition Attainment Record (TAR) training and corresponding quiz must be passed prior to completing the TAR.

11 What’s Next, Continued Must successfully complete the overview and Attainment Task training and quiz by October 18, 2013. “Successfully” is defined as answering questions with 80% accuracy (the quiz contains questions which are required for successful completion, regardless of score; MANDATORY QUESTIONS) Quizzes must be taken and passed in consecutive order (e.g., Overview and Attainment Tasks, then Transition Attainment Record: grades 8, 10 and 11 only.) If a participant is unable to pass a quiz section within 3 attempts, or does not complete all sections of the trainings/quizzes by the completion date or the quiz is locked, he or she must contact the building or district level assessment coordinator (BAC/DAC) to contact KDE Click here to continue to Part 2.1
