Literacy In The Early Years Slide Show Tania Martin

Asking Questions Questions generated from Carlos and the Squash Plant by Jon Romero Stevens. I love the last question: “Could this be true?” A squash plant grow in Carlos’ ear because he doesn’t wash that ear.

Asking Questions After going over the questions from Carlos and the Squash Plant, we think about how asking questions help us read, and understand what we are reading.

Asking Questions This was one of my favorite activities in Miller’s book. After reading, The Lotus Seed by Sherry Garland students created this chart where they asked questions, created mental images, made inferences, connections, and formed opinions about the book.

Asking Questions In this teacher-led activity, students generate responses to the question, “Why does Amelia Bedila do things different?” This question web is great for showing different ways to answer the same question.

Asking Questions I read the book, The Stranger, which gave me lots of questions as well as the students. Students used post-it notes to record questions they had about the book.

Asking Questions I explained to students that they may have questions about many things that there may be several answers for these questions. Students generated wonder cards with questions about life.
