This term our topic is: Ourselves Talk about your family and your culture at home. Talk about your likes and dislikes. Write down anything your child has found out about in their home school book. We will be reading the following books, which can be found in the local library or on the internet. So Much, Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs, the tiger who came to tea, Owl babies. Sing nursery rhymes with your child, you can find these on youtube. Stay and Play everyday 9:00 -9:30 Please check folders weekly for letters and your child’s home school book where you will find their homework task for the week. During stay and play please feel free to speak to your child’s teacher about all the fantastic work they have been doing at home. Remember you can fill out a ‘Wow card’ or bring in work from home to add to your child’s folder. Please bring any empty boxes/containers for children to use in make and create. International Week – 19 th October. If any parent would like to come in a read a story or sing a song in a different language please speak to an adult. Personal, social and emotional development (PSED) To feel confident and proud of themselves. Use their words and understanding of feelings to solve problems. Talk about our likes and dislikes. Talk about our family and home. Communication and language Responding to what they hear (sometimes without pictures or prompts in stories, conversations etc. ) and continuing conversations on the same theme. Use talk to organise thinking, feeling, and clarify and sequence events. Answering questions and asking questions about ourselves and others. Understanding the World (UW) Use Ipads, laptops and smart table. to completing simple programmes. Use the garden to explore the change in season. Sing songs in different languages and learning abut our similarities and differences. Expressive Art and Design (EAD) Experiment with sounds, using a variety of instruments. use tools and techniques to make models, and feel confident to build with a range of materials. Use our words in imaginative play working alongside our friends to make up a story. Literacy (L) Listening to stories about families, starting school and our favourite things. Talk about characters, events, settings in stories and use words to explain and question. Use our new sounds to make marks and write. To begin to write our name and other words. Mathematics (M) Sing number rhymes and solve problems based around rhymes and stories comparing different sized groups. Recognising numbers 1-10. *Using number rhymes to count on one more and one less. Recignising 2D shapes and patterns. Physical Development (PD) Using tools to draw, write, build, and explore play dough. Begin to make healthy and safe choices throughout the school day e.g washing hands, going to the toilet. cutting carefully, Move safely around the classroom. Words we will be using: family, home, mum, dad, sister, brother, cousin, auntie, uncle, grandparents, carer, friend, teacher, school, like,, dislike, love, favourite, culture, country, language, Role play and real life links Talk about families & home life. Talk about likes and dislikes. Role play hairdressers and baby clinic. Talk about how we look after ourselves and others. Talk about our similarities and differences. Share photos of our families and talk about our home life.
