Objectives To capture the wishes and aspirations of Osgathorpe’s residents for the community in which we live; To produce a report which truly represents those wishes and aspirations from which an action plan can be developed having due regard for affordability and achievability; To ensure the overall process is endorsed by and creates legal obligations on NWLDC.

Communication Our aim is to: Engage all residents in the appraisal; Demonstrate a worthwhile outcome to the process.

Communication Progressively raise awareness leading up to distribution of a questionnaire. Poster campaign on lamp posts – ‘Your Village needs You’ theme. ‘Open Day’ to explain what is happening and gather initial data – Glad, Sad & Mad. Flier to explain what is happening and time scales for questionnaire. Incentives

Communication Produce a report which: reflects all issues honestly; is easy to read and not too long; identifies self-help issues and those which involve other service providers; is professionally presented; is endorsed by Parish Council and recognised by NWLDC.

Questionnaire To be derived and adapted from other village questionnaires; One per household but with provision for all family members to contribute including children; Responses to be anonymous for confidentiality and to avoid the Data Protection Act; They will be hand delivered and collected so queries on completion can be addressed; Raffle ticket to be given in exchange for a completed questionnaire for a prize draw

Two main sources of funding being pursued: Awards of All – National Lottery fund; Defra funding via the Rural Communities Council. Getting started funding: Osgathorpe Parish Council

Next Steps Tasks to be split up within the group for action as follows: Meet with Diane Cooke of RCC to align our protocol; Progress main funding applications; Create poster and flier campaign to start early June; Decide on Open Day option and organise; Develop questionnaire. First draft to be available by mid- August Establish the criteria for the final report to ensure recognition by NWLDC.
