Transportation Ch 26 Operating Transportation Systems: Everyday we depend on transportation to get us from point A to point B. The most common type we use is walking. Animals and wind helped us move a distance faster. Technology helped us move even faster.

Transportation Types of Transportation: –Personal Transportation is travel using a vehicle owned by one person –Commercial Transportation includes all the enterprises that move people and goods for MONEY.

Transportation Components of a Transportation System: –Vehicle –Route of travel from origin to destination –Established schedule –Terminals at origin and destination

Transportation Loading –Naturally the placing of cargo on to a vehicle. –All cargo must be secured before movement. Moving –Monitoring the vehicle in transit. Unloading –Naturally removing the cargo. Transporting People and Cargo

Transportation Maintaining Transportation Systems: –Structure Repairs any part of the system that needs repairs. (railroad tracks, terminals, and roads are examples) –Vehicle Repairs help keep them safely operating and transporting the goods in which they haul.

TEST You will have a test next week over all material covered so far in the Energy, Power, and Transportation Unit. This will be a major grade and will cover Ch 24-27 as well as the notes. The test will come from mainly our notes.
