5 Set Your Award Event Date! Knowing your event date will assist NCWIT in planning staff travel to award events – we try to attend as many as possible! National Award Weekend: March 4-6, 2016

6 Educator Award Update Reviews are currently underway and will continue through Dec 21 We will invite affiliate coordinators to provide input in selecting Educator Award winners for your area Marissa Hofferber will reach out to affiliates with Educator Award applications after reviews close Dec 21

7 Application Review & Winner Selection Process National Process National Winner Selection will be completed mid-December Winners/Runner-ups will be notified prior to announcement of national winners week of Dec 21 st Local Winner Selection Assemble your selection committee in December Review and determine winners and runner-ups by January 31, 2016 Coordinators enter final selections through portal on aspirations.org

8 Application Review & Winner Selection Process Step 1: Assemble Your Selection Team At least 3 team members on selection committee Primary affiliate coordinator responsible for distributing applications to committee members Each team member should read all applications

9 Application Review & Winner Selection Process Step 2: Select Winners & Runner-Ups Go beyond the score… consider: Under-represented populations (rural, urban, lower income) New winners/runners-up instead of repeats Runner-up recognition in all affiliates

10 Application Review & Winner Selection Process How should you rank your candidates? Importance of diversity Inclusive vs. Exclusive Aspirations and demonstrated interest Access to opportunities Broad geography Plans for post-secondary education

12 Review & Selection Process: Notifications Step 3: Winner Notification Generic portal email Personalized follow-up email Hard copy notification letter Details about Aspirations event Follow-up with non-winners! An email encouraging them to try again next year is a nice touch!

16 AspireIT K-12 Outreach Program NCWIT AspireIT connects high school and college aged young women with K-12 girls interested in computing. Using a near-peer model, program leaders teach younger girls fundamentals in programming and computational thinking in fun, creative environments that are supported by program partners from the NCWIT community. The relationship between the program leaders and their program partners fosters mentoring with technical professionals, increases young women’s confidence in their computing abilities, and develops valuable leadership skills.

17 AspireIT Applications Open Registration for AspireIT (round 5) opens: Registration includes identifying Program Leader(s) and Program Partners November 16, 2015 Registration deadline: Last day to register a Program January 25, 2016, 11:59 p.m., EST Application deadline: Application includes Program budget and Program Partner verification. February 22, 2016, 11:59 p.m., EST Application review periodFebruary 23 to March 7, 2016 Program notification and acceptance period March 14 to April 4, 2016 Applications for NCWIT AspireIT Round 5 are now open! Registration and applications for Round 5, programs taking place between June 15, 2016 and October 14, 2016 are currently open. Timeline:
