Rosies is a Ministry of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) formed by the love of Jesus Christ The Oblates are a missionary order of priests and brothers in the Catholic Church Formed in 1816 by St Eugene de Mazenod near Marseilles in the South-East France, the Oblates received Papal approval in 1826 Today, the Oblates celebrate 200 years of continuing St Eugene’s charism of supporting those less fortunate in communities around the globe. St Eugene de Mazenod was declared a Saint on 3 December 1995 Born in 1782 to nobility in southern France Exiled during the French Revolution After seeing the devastation on his return dedicated his life to the Church, becoming a priest Preferred to work on the streets with society’s most abandoned – the poor, homeless, or in prison Died 21 May 1861 Today, the Oblates and Rosies continue St Eugene’s aspiration. Rosies operates all our outreaches on a socially inclusive basis We offer all our friends experiences of community and belonging – unconditionally Even when material support (supplies, blankets etc) is offered, social inclusion is at the core. “Today, when the networks and means of human communication have made unprecedented advances, we sense the challenge of finding and sharing a “mystique” of living together, of mingling and encounter, of embracing and supporting one another, of stepping into this flood tide which, while chaotic, can become a genuine experience of fraternity, a caravan of solidarity, a sacred pilgrimage.”(Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, 84) Copyright Rosies Youth Mission Inc 2016. O Jesus, make our hearts so human, that others may feel at home with us, so like Yours, that others may feel at home with You, so forgetful of self that we might simply become the place where You and they meet in the power of Your love and the joy of Your friendship.
