The Lancaster-Philadelphia Turnpike was built in 1795. Later in the revolution, when cars were being built, this turnpike became extremely popular.

Robert Fulton- American engineer who developed the first commercially successful steamboat. His most famous model was called the Clermont.

Helped business and the economy Reduced shipping times between the east and the west. Made things cheaper to ship. Encouraged the development of towns and businesses. Made many new forms of transportation more popular
