Physical Safety They are called ACCIDENTS for a reason. When you are “goofing” around, there is a good chance of someone getting hurt. Please conduct yourself in a manner that will allow you and others to learn while being safe.

Emotional Safety “I was just joking around.” “They know I am just messing around.”

Doing What is Right If you stop what you are “doing” when you see an adult… you know you were not conducting yourself properly. It is never okay to say something mean-spirited to another person. “Expect Respect” – Give Respect!

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Weapons Policy: Safe Harbor Locker Safety Don’t share your combination Be sure to lock your House C and gym locker every time

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Cafeteria (Going To and From): Walk with teacher on the right side of the hallway Silent Single File Line

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Cafeteria (During Lunch): Volume – Inside Voice Invite other students to sit with you Raise your hand to get out of your seat Keep hands to yourself Keep area as clean as you found it – everyone is responsible for any mess left at the table you are sitting at There is nothing “funny” about hiding, grabbing, or taking someone else’s food

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Cafeteria (New Tray Return Plan): When you are finished eating, raise your hand After staff member waves you up, take your tray to the tray return window Dump the trash in the trash can/recycle bin next to the window Put the tray on the counter Return to the SAME seat you were sitting at without stopping along the way

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Outside during lunch (weather permitting) : All students will remain in the cafeteria for the first 15 minutes of lunch. If the weather permits, you will then be dismissed by table to go outside. If you are not finished eating, finish eating, and then raise your hand to go outside. DON’T RUSH! You will no longer be allowed to eat outside. You will WALK SILENTLY down the hall to go outside or you will be sent back to the cafeteria and not be permitted to go out that day When the whistle is blown to come in, put all equipment back in the red bag and clean up anything you brought with you Enter the building quietly and return to your 3 rd or 7 th block class. You will not be permitted to stop at your locker, water fountain, or restroom.

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Hallways Volume, walking on right side, make sure you are wearing your pass or have your agenda NO RUNNING Notes From Parents for Early Dismissal or Bus Passes Give note to Mrs. Byrd in the morning before 8:30 a.m. Cell Phones Keep it off during the school day (8:30 – 3:18) unless teacher allows you to use it for instruction Locker Traffic Pattern Be sure you are following the arrows on the floor and on the lockers even if no staff members are present

Some Quick Rules Refreshers Restrooms In and out Keep area clean – paper towels in trash can and toilet paper in toilet Do not spray anything (Axe, cologne, or perfume) If it is a mess, then it will be locked which means no one can use it.

What Do I Do If I’m Having Problems? Students who are having trouble with a class, a teacher, another student, or anything else should talk to: Counselor Dean or A.P. Another Teacher/Faculty Member Our job is to make sure all students feel comfortable about coming to school. We want you to learn as much as possible! If you need help, PLEASE ASK!
