10 4 types of CONTEXT CLUES A context clue is a hint “in the text” that helps readers understand and figure out the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary terms. Shapiro.2015

11 Context Clues 1. Rewording – clues in the sentence where the term is defined and explained in “other words.” Shapiro.2015

12 Context Clues 2. Synonym– clues in the sentence where the term is compared to a word that has the same meaning. Shapiro.2015
