Classification of the materials for obturation of a root canal lumen Sealers Sealers (endodontic sealers – from English “to seal” – to isolate, make airtight) are plugging, encapsulating materials. They include pliable setting materials or endodontic sealers. Fillers Fillers (from English “to fill” – to stuff, obturate) – solid filling materials placed into a lumen of a tooth canal.

Requirements to the materials for root canal filling Requirements to the materials for root canal filling no allergenic, cancerogenic and mutagenic properties; easy placement into the root canal; no toxic effect on a body; pliability ensuring filling throughout the root canal; no decrease in volume when setting; resorption when extruded beyond the apical foramen, rather than resorption in the root canal; resistance to root fluid; no irritant effect on periodontal tissues; support in regeneration of periapical tissues with pathological changes;

durable anticeptic and anti-inflammatory properties; no dyeing of dental tissues; radiopacity; easy removal from the root canal; slow setting; no effect on adhesion, marginal fit and setting process of permanent filling materials. Requirements to the materials for root canal filling

based on zinc oxide and eugenol based on resorcinol-formalin resin glass-ionomer cements based on calcium hydroxide based on epoxy resins The sealers can be divided into the following groups:

Indications: Filling of a tooth root canal using gutta-percha points, as well as silver and titanium points Advantages: Excellent flow property Service durability Reliable sealing capacity Does not contain urotropin Epoxidin ® based on epoxy-amine resin

! Epoxidin does not contain urotropin. The sealer hardening does not cause toxic gas emission and exothermic effects in the root filling, allowing to maintain stability of the material volume, preventing from pains after filling.  Excellent flow property  Service durability  Excellent flow property  Service durability 30 times lower than requirement of GOST R 51059-97 (ISO 6876-86) Low solubility - 0,1% allows the material to penetrate to and fill areas in-between the points and root canal walls, securing firm adherence of points and density of root filling Film thickness – 5 μm; Appropriate flow property - 25 mm Film thickness – 5 μm; Appropriate flow property - 25 mm *The information was kindly provided by the Chair of Therapeutic Dentistry of Omsk State Medical Academy, 2014 Master point Additional accessory point Epoxidin ® SEM* image Use of Epoxidin sealer with gutta-percha points

Conclusion:Conclusion: Nowadays, a combination of gutta-percha and special intrachannel sealers is the most reliable method of root canals obturation. The results of the up-to-date researches show that the sealers based on epoxy resins are optimal for use. The endodontic material called EPOXIDIN is not only highly competitive with the known alternatives, but in many cases surpasses them.
