The public celebration includes street parties, parades, circuses and masquerades. Some of Carnivals attractions are free, such as the carnival street, but others like the Samba Parade and the balls are not great, so to book your tickets in advance. The parade of Samba, the highlight for many, takes place from dusk till dawn at the Sambodromo, a 700 film parade.

3.  This show is the stage for a thrilling competition of the top 14 schools samba, each equipped with lavish costumes, despite the fact that the participants are usually from poorer neighborhoods.

4.  Each school is accompanied by marching bands samba, floats, and of course the flamboyant scantily clad dancers and singers.
