2 SIMPLE SUBJECT  A simple subject is the main word that tells who or what the sentence is about.  The simple subject is a noun or pronoun.  A simple subject is the most important word in the complete subject.

3 SUBJECTS IN IMPERATIVE & INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES  The subject of an imperative sentence is not always stated. Usually the subject is understood to be you.  EX: Answer the phone for me.  (You) answer the phone for me.

4 SUBJECTS IN IMPERATIVE & INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES  The subject of an interrogative can be found by dropping the question mark and rearranging the word order to make a sentence.  EX: Can you answer the phone for me?  You can answer the phone for me  EX: How far shall I go?  I shall go how far.

20 SIMPLE PREDICATE  The simple predicate is the most important word in the complete predicate.  It is the main word (s) that tells about the subject.  It is always a verb.  The simple predicate may be a main verb and a helping verb.
