Causes Cause is unknown Could be caused by genetic or environmental factors How they were raised is a huge factor Environmental factors include abandonment in childhood, disrupted family life, abuse, little family connection

Prevalance One of the most common personality disorders Becoming more common About 2% of the population have this disorder 30-60% of people with a personality disorder have BPD

Most at risk Women more often have this disorder 75% of those diagnosed are women Often occurs in psychiatric patients

Signs and Symptoms Extreme fear of being abandoned Don’t like being alone Feeling empty and bored Frequent outbursts of anger Impulsiveness Self-injury Change therapists and friends often

Prevention and Treatment Group Therapy, but usually the patient gets mad and leaves Individual Talk Medications may help in some cases
