U NDERSTANDING THE F INANCIAL A ID P ROCESS TO APPLYING FOR THE E DUCATIONAL O PPORTUNITY PROGRAM Financial Documents required to verify financial eligibility: Current Income tax returns (parent(s)) Social Services Budget Ward of the State Documentation – Agency Letterhead (foster care agency) Legal Adoption ( Court documents) – if child was adopted after 15 years of age the adopted parents are not required to pay for College. Adult – 23 years and above (personal taxes)

U NDERSTANDING THE F INANCIAL A ID P ROCESS TO APPLYING FOR THE E DUCATIONAL O PPORTUNITY PROGRAM Financial Documents required to verify financial eligibility: Unemployment documents If parent was unemployed the entire tax year, an IRS form must be filed stating the parent did not receive any income. The form can be found on IRS.gov, Form 4506T Social Security Income – On SSI Letterhead, form 1099. Single Parent – Child Support Letter or Child Support Payment history

5. U NDERSTANDING THE F INANCIAL A ID P ROCESS TO APPLYING FOR THE E DUCATIONAL O PPORTUNITY PROGRAM Financial Documents required to verify financial eligibility: Parental Income is not available. Student must file for Independency override at the Financial Aid Office. This process is a lengthy one and must be implemented very early in the admission process with the Financial Aid Office. This requires documentation from student, parent and maybe other family members in order to verify story and legitimize process.
