Native Americans traded furs for guns and weapons. As trade grew, furs became scarce, which led to fighting between the Native American tribes.
44
EXPLAIN WHAT NATIVE AMERICANS BELIEVED ABOUT THEIR DREAMS.

Native Americans believed that they could interact with good and evil spirits in their dreams. They believed in sharing their dreams with others. If a Native American told you something that you did in their dream, it was your job to follow through on the action.

53
The women of the tribe elected the men who would serve on the council. It was the council members’ job to settle disagreements within the tribe. If the women did not think that the council members were doing their jobs well, they could remove them from the council. Council members elected a chief, who led the tribe into battle when there were conflicts between tribes. The governments did not have any written laws, police, or court systems.
54
DESCRIBE THE NATIVE AMERICAN’S HOMES.
55
The wigwam was a single family home. It could be rectangular, cone, or dome shaped, and was made from bark and young trees. There was a hole in the top of the wigwam so that smoke could leave the home. Native Americans also build long houses. These were long rectangular structures that housed as many as 12 families. Families lived in rooms that were created from animal skins. At the ends of the clan, there were sweat lodges, one for the men and one for the women. Native Americans used sweat lodges to cure illnesses and clean their bodies.
