3 Crime against women Alarming 2043 total cases of rape reported in 2014, including 1889 rapes (u/s IPC 376), 154 gang rapes (u/s IPC 376-D). 1889 rapes also includes 687 cases of rape of minors (u/s 376 IPC with 3 to 10 Posco Act) Five rape cases were reported daily 3072 cases reported of Assault on Women with Intent to Outrage her Modesty 3

11 Key Highlights- Complaints against Police 12,872 total complaints received from Public; Second highest after cases of theft in Delhi Least number of Complaints against police was filed in Outer district, which is also the district which has high number of registered crimes Highest number of 12 FIR’s was also filed against the police personnel concerned in the West district and out of those Charge-sheets were filed in 8 cases Only 46 departmental enquiries were initiated 11

15 What needs to be done Separation of Investigation and Law & Order functions of the Police Constitution of State Security Commission (SSC) MPs of Delhi need to raise the issue of crime, policing and law & order more frequently Police complaint authority needs to be strengthened and prompt action should be taken on the complaints 15
