DAIRY BREEDS Selected for high milk production, high butterfat content and tractability

Ayrshire From Scotland, red and white, horned (usually dehorned, but not a polled breed). Medium sized, moderate butterfat, vigorous calves

Brown Swiss Very large breed, grey to brown with paler legs nnd muzzle and black nose. High yielding, need little feed or care.

Guernsey Tan and white, medium dairy breed, efficient feed conversion, extremely rich milk. From British Channel Islands

Jersey Small, red-brown with black nose, upright, small, curled horns (usually dehorned). High butterfat milk, efficient producers. From British channel Islands
