4 Operating procedures (low-risk activities) where adequate control measures cannot be implemented solely via supervision, the system of work may include the use of written operating procedures. Low-risk activities are those activities that do not increase the level of risk associated with the work normally carried out in that area.

5 Safety method statements (medium-risk activities) associated with safe systems of work. task and location specific a means of demonstrating and confirming that hazards and risks specifically associated with a particular task or series of tasks at particular location(s) have been properly considered and evaluated.

6 Method Statements applicable to: Hot Works Intrusive or complex plant or vehicle-systems maintenance, installation or removal Roof Works Swimming Pool maintenance Installation or removal of complex machinery or plant Complex lifting operations demolition

7 Permit to Work (High Risk) High-risk activities where the reasonably foreseeable consequences could result in immediate and serious injuries, e.g. explosion, fire, asphyxiation or similar outcomes immediately affecting or trapping people. Operated under the direct control of a responsible person Mandatory for Confined Space Work.

8 Permit to Work (High Risk) a documented system that authorises certain people to carry out specific work within a specified time. sets out the precautions required to complete the work safely (based on a risk assessment). describes what work will be done and how (may reference Method Statement)
