1 Formatting a Document in Microsoft Word

2 Once you have your lab response written, you’re ready to get started on formatting! The following presentation will show you how to:  Download Microsoft Office  Insert a document header  Format line spacing  Use spell-check  Insert page numbers

3 Downloading Microsoft Office To download Microsoft Office, go to https://studentportal.itt- tech.eduhttps://studentportal.itt- tech.edu Under the “Resources” tab choose “Download Center” Click “Download” next to Microsoft Office. If you need further help downloading Microsoft Office, please call student support at 1- 877-456-7134.

4 When Microsoft Word finds a misspelled word, the word is automatically underlined in red. By choosing the “Review” tab, you can check for spelling errors using the button.

5 Once you choose to run the spell-check function, it will show your misspelled word with alternate options. Click on the correctly spelled word, and then choose “Change.”

6 To Insert a page number, choose the “Insert” tab and look for “Page Number” Choose whether to insert the number at the top or the bottom of the page.

8 To insert a document header, go to the “Insert” tab, and then look for the “Header” button. Choose a document header from the menu.

10 To double space your document, look under the “Home” tab for the “Paragraph” section. Look for the spacing button. It looks like this:

12 Don’t forget to follow your lab directions carefully.
