The boys have felt several different emotions. For each of the boys, choose a feeling and write a sentence showing how it affects him. Here are some examples of emotions: bored, embarrassed, scared, anxious, relieved, angry, surprised. Think of an emotion that best describes each boy’s feelings. Then write your sentences.

What is the difference between a simile and metaphor?

7. A simile makes a comparison between two things using the words: like or as.
A metaphor is a comparison without using the words like or as. A metaphor says that one thing IS another.

The campers have been rescued by George Washington’s army on the night of the famous Crossing of the Delaware River. It is cold and snowing. Adam Hibbs was asked to take the campers to safety at an inn for the night. Matthew is not allowed to leave to get on the boat with them after returning the general’s cape.
