1 Land and Farming in Nigeria Jairo Padilla World Lit – 1 st 3/23/10

2 Natural Resources Nigeria is the worlds sixth largest oil producer. Tin mining is historical in Nigeria. Nigeria has the worlds 10th largest natural gas reserves in the world

3 Farming Easily farmed soils are in northern areas surrounding Kano, and Sokoto (cities in Nigeria). Farmers raise crops for domestic consumption. Farmers cultivate cotton and peanuts for trade.

4 Crops Grown Farmers in Nigeria grow many types of crops the most known are yams, beans, cashew nuts, cassava, maize, melon, millet, palm oil, and sorghum.

6 Livestock There are also farms in which animals are raised to then sell some of the animals are cattle, donkey, sheep, turkey, goat, and chicken.

8 Why Is All This Important? I believe that this is important because this is how most people earn their money in Nigeria. If most of this things weren’t as important I believe that even more people in Nigeria would be facing hunger which is a big number already.

9 How Does This Relate To Me? This relates to me because this is how most of my family members earn their money in Mexico. Also because if my parents wouldn’t have came to the U.S. I think that I would be working in farms just like the Nigerian most Nigerian people. These jobs are really hard and I acknowledge all the people that work in farming.
