7. Southern Colonies Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland The land was great for farming: flat and fertile Crops: tobacco, cotton, rice, indigo

8. Southern Colonies Cont. Slavery – most of the slavery was in the southern colonies. Most slaves worked on plantations (large farms) Plantations were located on the banks of rivers – made great transportation for their crops
