1. This shows CIS17 and the first day introduction.

2. We are starting to learn html. The html shown here is a tag because it is enclosed in. The end tag also has the /. See examples on the next few pages.

3. Note that these examples are from my web site. There are a series of examples for HTML. To see the code for a page go to view source. If you want to create a new web page, create it using notepad.

4. Note the open and close tags. The head tells about the page and gives the title that appears at the top. The body is where you put things you want to appear on the body.

5. When I save the page, I save it with an html extension (note you can also use htm). Be sure that save as type is set to all files.

6. I saved this code on the T drive as HTMLintro.html. Now I am starting to open it. When I open it, you will see the T: address in the browser window. On this slide you are still seeing the page from my site.

7. This is the second example using for ordered list which gets the 1,2,3 and for unordered list which gets the bullets. The list items in each list are done using. Note that I close all of the tags in the list. or just means break to the next line.
