Types of Office of Safety data requests: Annual projects Special projects HSIS data projects

Annual Projects: These projects are mostly developed using FARS/GES database. Every year these projects will be updated with new year data Different types of data representations (i.e. Tables, charts, etc.) Example: DFS tables and Motorcycle charts

Special projects: Wide variety of projects. Mostly FARS/GES data (some additional data sources – Census, HPMS, etc.) Examples: –Cross tabulation of fatal crashes by highway design class and crash time by year. –Comparing web article on Most Dangerous Cities to FARS numbers.

HSIS Data Projects : These projects are developed using HSIS database. Often done when FARS/GES do not contain the required data. Example: Data by detailed shoulder width information and Intersection data requests.
