Oklahoma City International Church of Christ 2014 Midweek - Summer Series

Connecting to God: Spiritual Pathways 1. How can “I” better connect with GOD 2. How can “we” better connect with GOD

 Genesis 4:1 (NIV) Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.  “made love” from Hebrew word “YADA”  The word has no sexual connotation!  Only when combined with the Hebrew word WAHTAHAR do the NIV translators, based on context give the sexual interpretation.

 Genesis 4:1 (ESV) Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain,...” “knew” = “YADA” “conceived” = “WAHTAHAR  Genesis 4:1 (HCSB) Adam was intimate with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “intimate” = “YADA” “conceived” = “WAHTAHAR \ Connecting with the Creator

Psalm 139:1-4 1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. Connecting with the Creator

 Here are 2 questions for you:  Is your “Quiet Time” currently helping you to have a closer relationship with God?  Or has your “Quiet Time” become more of a ritual?

The Quiet Time Conundrum:  Here are a couple more questions for you:  Do you feel like you have an “Intimate” (YADA) relationship with God?  Or let me ask it this way do you feel like your level of “Intimacy” (YADA) with God is growing?

 Let’s think back to when you felt closest to God:  Was it always in your quiet times?  Was it when you were in the fellowship?  Or when you were praying out in nature?  Maybe it was when you were serving with HOPE?  Or possibly during a wonderful time of in-depth Bible study?  What was it for you?
