An Introduction to Composites Technology Explore the exciting new technology and opportunities in the world of composites.
2
Lesson Five – Creating a Product
3
In this lesson, students will use their knowledge of composites to construct a composite part. Learning Objective Oh yes… and there is a test afterwards!
4
Whenever we are preparing to do a vacuum infusion, we should always use a Pre-Infusion Checklist to make sure that we have not overlooked any important items or tasks. Everyone should have a specific job assignment as well. If we use checklists, and plan our work well, we are assured to produce a good part. But first, let’s demold and inspect our parts from the last lesson. Don’t forget to work safely. There are a lot of sharp edges and splinters around when we are demolding. What can we do to make sure that we do not have any injuries while demolding? What types of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) will we use?
7
Now for the debriefing How did our vacuum infusion process go? What parts went well, and why? What parts could have been better? What can we do next time to prevent those errors? How about the parts we made in lesson four? Were they satisfactory?
8
Now for the debriefing What ideas do you have for using composites for your own things? Are you confident to make your own parts in the future? What have your friends thought about what you learned in composites? What other questions or comments do you have?
9
Now for the debriefing Ready for your exam?
