1 Peter 3:8-17 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For "He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil." 13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled." 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

ARE THE LORD'S EYES ON YOU?

ARE THE LORD’S EYES ON YOU? A.Much of our Christian lives are summed up in three things. 1.The Right Attitude 2.The Right Actions 3.The Right Aims B.I Peter 3:8-17 shows us that the Lord’s eyes are on those who have these three things right in their lives.
5
I. THE RIGHT ATTITUDE 1 Pet 3:8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tender- hearted, be courteous;
6
I. THE RIGHT ATTITUDE A. OF ONE MIND - Phil 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like- minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. B. COMPASSION FOR ONE ANOTHER - Jude 1:21-22 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. {22} And on some have compassion, making a distinction; C. LOVE AS BROTHERS - Rom 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; D. TENDERHEARTED - Eph 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. E. COURTEOUS - Acts 27:3 And the next day we landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care.

II. THE RIGHT ACTIONS 1 Pet 3:9-11 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. {10} For "He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. {11} Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
8
II. THE RIGHT ACTIONS A. NOT RETURNING EVIL FOR EVIL - Rom 12:17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. B. NOT RETURNING REVILING FOR REVILING - 1 Pet 2:21-23 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: {22} "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; {23} who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but commit ted Himself to Him who judges righteously; C. BLESS INSTEAD OF RETURNING EVIL OR REVILING - Mat 5:44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

II. THE RIGHT ACTIONS E. REFRAIN TONGUE FROM EVIL - Titus 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. F. REFRAIN FROM SPEAKING DECEIT 1 Pet 2:1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all [deceit], hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, G. TURN FROM EVIL - Rom 2:5-9 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, {6} who will render to each one according to his deeds: {7} eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; {8} but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness; indignation and wrath, {9} tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
10
II. THE RIGHT ACTIONS H. DO GOOD - Gal 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. I. SEEK & PURSUE PEACE - Rom 14:19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.
11
III. THE RIGHT AIMS I Pet 3:12-17 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil." 13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled." 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
12
III. THE RIGHT AIMS A.THE EYES & EARS OF THE LORD 1.Pro 15:3 — The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good. 2.Pro 15:29 — The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous. B.FOLLOW THAT WHICH IS GOOD - 1Thes 5:15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. C.SUFFER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS - Mt 5:10-12 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13
III. THE RIGHT AIMS D.DO NOT FEAR - Isa 41:10 'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. E.SANCTIFY GOD – Ezekiel 36:23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD," says the Lord GOD, "when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. F.BE READY TO GIVE A DEFFENSE - Col 4:6 — Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. G.HAVE A GOOD CONSCIENCE - Heb 13:18 — Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.
