Demonstrating Your Car Five attempts to demonstrate your car. Attempts 1- 3 are FREE. Attempt 4 costs 5% of grade – 20 points Attempt 5 costs 10% of grade – 40 points

IMPORTANT NOTICE! If, on the scheduled day the project is due, a student is absent due to a field trip, in-school performance, out of school trip, etc. then the student must demonstrate the Car for a final grade the day before. If a student is on a pre-planned absence the day the project is due then the Car must be demonstrated the last day the student is in school before the absence begins.
10
Egg car Constructed only of approved materials – Body made only of paper provided No tape used- glue only Straws and dowel rods – Only four wheels and axles Car rolls freely down track Car supports a medium egg Egg not broken on impact
11
Egg car Top 1/3 of egg in full view Mass of 25.00 grams or less “Crumple zone” is part of design Car rolls FREELY down track Length of 20.00 centimeters or less Width of 6.50 centimeters or less

NO Sails Parachutes Airfoils, etc.
13
NO CONE CARS!

Goal #2: Students will submit either a poster or a PowerPoint as part of their Independent Study.
17
PowerPoint or Poster Labeled digital photograph(s) of Car Sequence of energy conversions (flow chart)
18
Potential Gravitational The ball starts at the top of the hill. Kinetic Mechanical The ball begins rolling down the first hill. Potential Gravitational The ball gains gravitational energy as it rolls up the smaller hill. Kinetic Mechanical The ball begins rolling down the second hill. Kinetic Sound The ball emits sound as it moves. Kinetic Heat There is friction between the ball and the surface. Kinetic Sound The ball emits sound as it moves. Extra credit options You may earn up to 10% extra credit. Testing Car on scheduled testing day (+5%) Submitting completed poster or PowerPoint early (+5%)
20
Submitting completed poster or PowerPoint early All parts must be completed. The poster or PowerPoint must earn no 1 or 0, and can only earn one 2 on the rubric.
