Weather Vocabulary (Add definitions to your Interactive Notebook.) Temperature - how hot or cold the air is Humidity - the amount of water vapor in the air Wind direction - the compass direction from which the wind is coming Wind speed - how fast the air is moving past a measuring point

Weather Vocabulary Pressure - the force of the air pushing in all directions Visibility - the distance one can see through the air

Thermometer - measures temperature Barometer - measures air pressure Anemometer - measures wind speed Wind vane - measures wind direction Hygrometer - measures humidity

Visibility How far you can see Weather factors might limit visibility? –Fog, clouds, haze, smog, rain, snow, dust Determine visibility? –View distant landmarks

Units for Measurements Temperature - degrees Celsius ˚C or F Pressure - millibars (mb) Humidity - percent % Wind speed - mph or km/h Wind direction - the direction from which the wind is coming (N, S, E, W)
