Support: identifying children enables us to offer appropriate support. Safeguarding: helps to identify or prevent safeguarding issues e.g. Serious Case Review. Services: creates an evidence base for the funding of additional services/resources. Size of population affected: 200,000

There is no one agency that oversees need. Prisons do not always ask prisoners if they have dependent children*. Schools are not informed when a child’s parent has been imprisoned.
