1 Native American Tribes of Michigan Web quest 3 rd Grade

2 Introduction You’re an archaeologist and have recently finished a dig in Michigan and the surrounding areas. You have found many different artifacts. These artifacts are going to be displayed at a local natural history museum. Before they can be displayed you must identify each item and associate it with the tribe/s that may have left it. You have learned a little bit about Native American's in school but have never seen many of these items before. You will have to do further research to help you with identifying and explaining each of the artifacts.

3 Task You have been given pictures of the artifacts that were found during the archaeological dig. Your task is to research the tribes that were native to the state of Michigan and identify which tribe or tribes each of the artifacts may have been left by. You will then need to make a plaque (worksheet attached) for each of the artifacts. These plaques will be displayed with the artifacts in the museum. You plaque needs to include the name of the artifact, which tribe it is from and a brief explanation of the item.

4 Process There are five tribes in Michigan you will be working with : 1.The Potawatomi 2.The Ottawa 3.The Cherokee 4.The Wyandot 5.The Fox and Sauk
