We have already learned two ways to make the /ō/ sound so far. Let's review. When a word ends with a magic e the o in the middle of the syllable says its own name. When an a is the last letter in an open syllable. hi

Today we will talk about the vowel digraphs or vowel teams that makes the /ō/ sound. says /ō/

oa Here are some examples of oa words. oat boat soak road oak toad coat moan load loaf loangoalcoal foam goat roam

oe Here are some examples of oe words. toe foe doe woe hoe Joe This is the least common way to spell /ō/.

This is the end of the phonics lesson for today. You will practice what you learned with an OA worksheet and an OE worksheet. They both have Magic Squares like the one we just did.

In lesson 12 we learned that proper nouns need to be capitalized. Today we will learn more about Capitalization

Let's talk more about proper nouns of people. Sometimes the names of people come with titles. These titles give more information about the person and can be abbreviations. AS Aunt Sue CW Captain Wrenn PO President Obama MW Mr. Welsh DJ Dr. Jones M C Ms. Crowley M L Mrs. Lang

Specific names of places have capitals at the beginning of each word. CB Carolina Beach MS Market Street P Pluto E Europe NCM A North Carolina Museum of Art M E Mount Everest TS Tiller School O Ohio Notice that 'of' isn't capitalized. Small words like of, the, and, in, to, a, an,and from are not capitalized unless they are at the beginning.

The first word in a sentence always gets capitalized. It is a sign to the reader that a new sentence is starting. I I love to play baseball! D Do you like to play? W We should play together sometime.

Days of the week, months of the year, and holidays are capitalized.
