What are the characteristics of all members of the Plant Kingdom? Eukaryotic Autotrophic Can go through Photosynthesis Multicellular Can reproduce asexually (cuttings) or Sexually (flowers or cones)

Types of Seed – Producing Plants Remember that a seed is a baby plant (embryo) inside a box with its lunch Two divisions of plants that produce seeds – Conifers – Conifers – pines and spruces (evergreens) Produce cones – Flowering plants – Oaks, maples, tulips, roses… Produce flowers

Plant Structures Roots Roots – Anchorage – Absorption of water – Food storage

Stems – Transport water and nutrients up and around plant – Hold leaves and flowers upright – Store food – Sometimes, photosynthesis such as with cacti

Leaves Leaves – Photosynthesis

Flowers Flowers – Sexual Reproduction – Produce egg (in ovary) and sperm (pollen) – Hermaphroditic – both sexes food filament
