Objectives All pupils will be able to list 5 ways smoking can harm the body Most pupils will be able to list more than 5 ways that smoking can harm the body and consider reasons why people still smoke knowing this. Some pupils will assess the impact that anti-smoking warnings on cigarette packets and on TV have on smokers

Are E- Cigarettes healthier? Yes, they do not contain as many harmful chemicals. Are they completely safe? No! They contain nicotine and therefore still cause the exact same addiction! Also, they are so new that no-one can be 100% certain what ingredients are in them and how much nicotine exactly. The NHS believe that they should only be sold as medicine. Why do you think this is?

Activities Changing Image Write down 10 words that you associate with smoking. Then have a go at writing your own poem about smoking. Dear Friend, Ashley is a smoker. She knows how dangerous smoking can be but she doesn’t think it will happen to her. Write her a letter to try and convince her to quit smoking. Argue your side Imagine you are going to take part in a debate about smoking. You do not know if you are arguing for or against. Think of 5 reasons why people may smoke and 5 reasons why people do not. There’s something missing... Must complete 2 activities. Personal Credit for 3 activities and Cause For Applause for all four. Gap fill activity in resource book, page 22. You will need to use the words at the bottom of the page to complete the paragraph. This should be written in your book!

List three reasons that someone may give for smoking. (point also if boy/ girl can oppose each) How many people smoke in the UK? 10 million List 3 effects of smoking.
