2 Checklist for LE:NOTRE Mundus Working Groups Group 14 Collaborative Teaching Materials – Urban and Rural Landscapes Consultation, Participation and Social Inclusion Outline: Consultation and participation are part of all development, planning and design procedures in urban and rural areas Structuring, analysing, documenting and reflecting on them is a task common to practice Theories, methods and instruments are applied and reflected upon with reference to case studies Studio and thesis work can be complemented by developing a structured process approach, including target groups and stakeholders, providing technical tools (e.g. visualisation) reflecting on methods and outcomes.

7 Checklist for LE:NOTRE Mundus Working Groups Group 14 Collaborative Teaching Materials – Urban and Rural Landscapes Consultation, Participation and Social Inclusion Our motivation: Participation is an important task for landscape architects involved in local and regional development – there is a lack of education in some university courses so far. (Eva) The topic is crucial for the success of projects and increases the support and respect of people involved. It is not sufficiently taught and practiced (Ruben) University has profile in researching and teaching participatory planning. Working group does exists, tools for presentation / visualisation are developed. Toolbox participatory planning is intended for studio projects and theses. (Dietrich) Participation and inclusion of open space users is part of regular teaching but has to be extended and systematised. Experience with case studies can be used. (Cornelius)
