Il Partitivo Used to indicate a part of a whole or an undetermined quantity or number. In English, it translates as some or any In Italian, it is expressed as the contraction of di and the definite article

Alcuni ALWAYS followed by a plural noun Only used when you want to say a few Ex – Alcuni amici Alcune bottiglie Alcuni ristoranti

Qualche ALWAYS followed by a singular adjective Only used when you want to say a few Used interchangeably with alcuni Ex – Qualche amico. Qualche bottiglia. Qualche ristorante.

Un po di Only used with nouns that designate substances that can be measured but not counted, like: pane, latte, carne, caffè, minestra Only used when some means a little bit of Ex – Desidero un po di latte. Manio un po di pollo.
