9
Take My Life Take my voice and let me sing, Always, only for my King. Take my lips and let them be Filled with messages from Thee.
10
Take My Life Take my silver and my gold, Not a mite would I withhold.
11
Havergal 1878 The Lord has shown me another little step, and, of course, I have taken it with extreme delight. 'Take my silver and my gold' now means shipping off all my ornaments to the Church Missionary House, including a jewel cabinet that is really fit for a countess, where all will be accepted and disposed of for me...Nearly fifty articles are being packed up. I don't think I ever packed a box with such pleasure.
12
Take My Life Take my silver and my gold, Not a mite would I withhold.
13
2 Corinthians 8:1 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia
14
Romans 12:8 …the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
15
Sacrificially 2 Corinthians 8:2–3 …for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means
16
Sacrificially Philippians 1:27–30 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their
17
Sacrificially destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
18
Sacrificially 1 Thessalonians 1:6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit
19
Sacrificially 1 Thessalonians 2:14 For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews
20
Sacrificially 2 Thessalonians 1:4–5 Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring. This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering
21
Sacrificially 2 Corinthians 8:12–13 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness
22
Joyfully Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
23
Joyfully 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
24
Joyfully Joy + Severe Affliction + Poverty = Wealth
25
Joyfully Revelation 3:14–17 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. 15 “ ‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot…
26
Joyfully nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
27
Joyfully Revelation 2:8–9 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life. 9 “ ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
28
Voluntarily 2 Corinthians 8:8 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.
29
Voluntarily 1 Corinthians 16:1–4 Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come. 3 And when I arrive, I
30
Voluntarily will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.
31
Voluntarily 2 Corinthians 8:12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
32
Voluntarily 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
33
Persistently 2 Corinthians 8:4 …begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints
34
Murray-O’Connor This spontaneous recognition of charity as the essence of Christianity won them a place in his affections to which no other community could aspire, and which merited them the accolade of ‘partners in the gospel.’
35
Persistently Philippians 1:5 …because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
36
Persistently Philippians 1:7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.
37
Grace Giving 1.Sacrificially 2.Joyfully 3.Voluntarily 4.Persistently
38
I Am Changed By Grace… 1.When I [Choose To give] On My Own 2.When I [consider my Giving] A Privilege 3.When I [Consciously Give] Myself First 4.When I [Connect My Giving] With Spiritual Growth
39
2 Corinthians 8:6-7 Accordingly, we urged Titus that as he had started, so he should complete among you this act of grace. 7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you— see that you excel in this act of grace also.
