1 Verification Overview What is Verification? Independent, third-party review of reported emissions Why is it Important? Ensures that an inventory is complete, transparent, and accurate Provides accountability to stakeholders Who is a Verifier? The Climate Registry recognizes Verification Bodies that have been accredited to ISO 14065 and demonstrated knowledge of The Climate Registry’s General Reporting Protocol and General Verification Protocol A list of accredited Verification Bodies is on the website

44 Five Core Verification Activities After the kick-off meeting your Verification Body will work to: 1. Assess your conformance with the Registry’s requirements 2. Assess the completeness of your emission report 3. Perform a risk-based assessment 4. Develop a sampling plan for your data and facilities to be visited. 5. Evaluate your GHG information systems and controls and emission estimates against verification criteria
5
Facility Visits The Registry requires a minimum number of sites be visited Table 4.2 of GVP The VB will determine the number and the type of facilities to visit as part of a dynamic sampling plan The VB will inform the Member of the facilities it will visit VB submits a Planned Facility Visits Form at least 15 days before scheduled visits Total Facilities Minimum Sample Size 1-31 4-102 11-253 26-506 51-1008 101-25012 251-50015 501-1,00020 Over 1,0002% Table 4.2

Documentation Verification Bodies must produce the following documents to complete The Registry’s verification process: Verification Report: includes scope, description of verification plan, complete list of facilities, sampling plan, list of any discrepancies identified Verification Statement: official documentation of the outcome of the verification activities
