4 A Levels new A levels are 2 year linear courses new AS levels are 1 year courses only Some A Levels are still following the current pattern (one year AS followed by second year of A2) students must make sure they know what they are applying for CRC – English and Maths all courses at CRC now contain an English and Maths component GCSEs and Beyond qualifications (recent changes)

5 A-level / IB coursesLevel 3 General Applied Courses Vocational Courses At least 7 GCSEs at C or above, usually including Maths and/or English Some centres require higher grades for some or all subjects Some subjects need specific GCSEs Most require 4 GCSEs at C or above (or equivalents) usually including Maths and/or English Some require more than 4 GCSEs or specific subjects Some require merit or distinction in the relevant level 2 course plus C or above in English Most courses start at Level 1, progressing to Level 2 and Level 3 as skills develop Most courses require 3 GCSEs at D or above, sometimes with Maths and/or English Some courses need specific subjects GCSEs and Beyond entry requirements

6 To confirm entry requirements and specific subject requirements please check post 16 prospectuses carefully. Students who are only just eligible for a Level 3 course, must make sure they also apply for a Level 2 course as a back up.
