New Mexico State University A State’s-Eye View of the Plan of Work and Annual Report of Accomplishments and Results Steven Loring Associate Director Agricultural Experiment Station
2
General Issues Linked auditable fiscal data with programmatic descriptions Lack of communication between databases Cookie-cutter templates / reports Imposition of national-level program priorities Linkage with Knowledge Area (KA) codes Unrealistic goals requirements in POW New Mexico State University
3
Several issues were raised at Plan of Work Review Panel in May 2010. USDA-NIFA working to implement recommendations in REEport. New Mexico State University
4
USDA-NIFA Priority Areas Childhood Obesity Prevention Climate Change Global Food Security Food Safety Sustainable Bioenergy New Mexico State University
5
We have addressed the priority areas by: renaming and reorganizing existing planned programs splitting them out from our existing research and Extension programs. New Mexico State University
6
Exceptions are: Childhood Obesity Prevention, which we have kept in Health and Wellbeing Climate Change, which is part of Sustainable Management of Natural Resources. New Mexico State University
7
ACES Strategic Themes, Focus Areas, and Knowledge Areas ACES research, academic, and Extension outreach activities fall into three broad strategic themes, which consist of focus areas. The focus areas are equivalent to our Plans of Work. Each is comparable to a NIFA portfolio, with associated Knowledge Areas (KAs).
