What analytical comments can you make about lines 33 – 38? Sounds like a spell because of rhythm and rhyme scheme Repetition of “thrice” emphasises evil “charm” suggests spell Fact all say together emphasises their power

What is significant about Macbeth’s opening line? Reminds us of the witches “fair is foul and foul is fare” from opening scene of play Macbeth’s first words echo witches’ words, therefore Macbeth immediately associated with them and evil

In your own words … what do the witches look like? Their clothes are ragged and worn out They don’t look like human beings They have chapped fingers They have thin lips They have beards!
