Building Self-esteem Self-esteem is the value and importance you place on yourself. high, low or in between affected by your successes, your thoughts about your strengths and weaknesses, and the way people react to you it has a strong influence on your behavior and your wellbeing feeling good about yourself = more confidence = more successful.

Ways to Boost your Self-Esteem Learn to accept praise When someone compliments you, don’t put yourself our your accomplishments down. People praise you because they feel that you really deserve it. Focus on your strengths Everyone has talents. One person might play the piano or paint well. Another might be a good leader or a good listener. What are some of your strengths and talents? Accept yourself as you are Accept the fact that you are not perfect and you have some faults. Everyone does! Think about it, you accept your friends as they are. Why should you be so hard on yourself?

Learn from what you do Learn from your mistakes and don’t label yourself as a failure. Instead, see mistakes as opportunities to find out how you can do things differently in the future. Use your strengths to help others Being a part of activities that help others lets you know that you can accomplish something really important. It also helps you feel good about yourself. Take responsibility for your own life. Learn how to deal with different demands that are expected of you. Making good decisions and being successful will make you feel good about yourself.
